There are certain little tools that quietly become part of your knitting routine, the kind you don’t think much about at first, and then suddenly can’t imagine knitting without. These Write On / Wipe Off Stitch Markers have become exactly that for me.
Like many knitters, I often have more than one project on the needles. Between keeping track of pattern repeats, remembering where a special increase happens, or marking a spot I need to return to later, I used to find myself constantly setting my knitting down to check instructions. It interrupted the rhythm and for me, that rhythm is such an important part of the joy of knitting.
This marker is here to remind me to decrease every 7 rows to 68 stitches. I always use these markers when traveling so I can keep my pattern tucked away but still have the directions right in front of me.
When starting this pattern I was not keeping my decreases straight. These markers remind me of the instruction for the left vs the right leaning decrease.
What I love about these stitch markers is how simple and helpful they are. I can write a quick reminder directly on the marker “increase,” “repeat,” or even just a small symbol that makes sense to me and clip it right onto my project. It keeps everything right where I need it, allowing me to stay focused and relaxed as I knit.
They’re especially wonderful when working more involved stitch patterns or trying a new technique. Instead of worrying about losing my place, I can knit with confidence and enjoy the process. And once a project is finished, the writing wipes away easily with rubbing alcohol, so the markers are ready to use again.
If I remove my needles from a project to cast on another, I can note needle size I am using so when I pick it up again there is no guessing!
Our client, Rita, inspired this idea! I can label the yarn with its name, the number of grams in the ball, and the color name or number before I store any partially used skeins. This particular yarn, Pima 100, is what I use to make dishcloths. Now, I won’t have to guess if I have enough yarn to knit another one!
I also think they make a thoughtful little gift for knitting friends. It’s one of those practical notions that feels both clever and personal the kind of thing that makes time spent making just a bit smoother.
Sometimes it’s the smallest additions to our project bags that bring the most satisfaction. These stitch markers have certainly done that for me.
We are selling the stitch markers on their own or with a fine-tipped Sharpie, the recommended pen. What an easy thing to pop into your notions bag! As my friend Marylouise noted, work smarter, not harder, with these Write On / Wipe Off Stitch Markers.
