Spotlight On: Our Early Summer Tee-Along

We’re so excited to be hosting another Summer Tee-Along! As I mentioned in the event description, I’m not typically a “summer” knitter. Living near the coast means cooler days, fog, and breezy evenings—perfect weather for heavier knits. So, I often shy away from lightweight projects. But joining in with all of you always inspires me to branch out and embrace something a bit more summery.

Last year, I knit Anker’s Summer Shirt in Sandnes Garn Duo, and I’ve actually worn it quite a bit—usually layered under a jacket.

This year, I’m giving myself a double challenge. First up: finishing Blouse No. 2 (also in Duo!) for my daughter. It’s been tucked away in a project bag, just waiting for sleeves, and I’m determined to get it done so she can enjoy it.

Then, come May 31st, I’ll be casting on Heimathafen by Isabell Kraemer in mYak’s Fior di Lino. Yes, it’s long-sleeved (my personal favorite), but the yarn is so light and airy—it’ll be the perfect piece for those warm, coastal days. I’ll be knitting mine in Graphite with a Vintage Celadon dip-stitch stripe. I even added the stripe to my swatch to test it out, and it’s such a fun stitch to knit! I can’t wait to get started!

Read on to see what the rest of the Monarch team is planning to knit for this year's Summer Tee-Along!

Koryn is casting on the Avenue Tee by Tori Yu using Knitting for Olive Cotton Merino. With its classic silhouette and versatile style, this tee is bound to be a staple in her summer wardrobe. KFO's Cotton Merino offers just the right mix of softness and structure—perfect for everyday wear.

Catherine has her sights set on Joni by Natasja Hornby, knit in Isager Trio 2. A modern nod to vintage lace tops, Joni’s delicate details and elegant fit make it a standout summer knit. Catherine’s eye for timeless style and lovely neutrals means this one will pair beautifully with everything from jeans to skirts.

Molly is going with Adventitious by Olga Putano, using mYak Baby Yak Lace held double. With its slightly cropped silhouette, lacy cable detail, and relaxed V-neck, it’s the perfect blend of comfy and chic. She’s already started swatching and is loving the fabric—soft, light, and full of beautiful drape. This one’s sure to be a summer favorite!

Erin is taking on Cloudesley by Isabell Kraemer in our very own Fanshell Fingering. With its delicate details and simple stockinette body, Cloudesley will make for a joyful summer knit. Fanshell’s lovely stitch definition and beach-inspired palette are an ideal match for this pretty top.

Connie has chosen the ever-popular Cumulus Tee by PetiteKnit in Knitting for Olive Pure Silk. Light, drapey, and effortlessly chic, this fluttery-sleeved tee is a dream in pure silk. We know Connie will make it look absolutely effortless, both on and off the needles!

Jenn will be knitting the Saltkråkan Tee by Sari Nordlund in mYak Fior di Lino. With its two-color striped pattern and relaxed fit, this top is the epitome of summer style. The linen blend is ideal for warmer days, and it'll be perfect for strolling the lakesides in the PNW.

Annabelle is casting on Stromboli by Caitlin Hunter in Knitting for Olive Pure Silk. This breezy top is full of texture with just a hint of lace—perfect for warm-weather knitting. The silk yarn gives it a beautiful drape and elegance, while the engaging stitch pattern keeps things fun on the needles. We can’t wait to see it come to life in Annabelle’s talented hands!

We hope this peek into our project plans has sparked some inspiration for your own summer knitting!
