Wriley Shawl Workshop with Cecelia Campochiaro - January 17th
Saturday, January 17th, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm
Join Cecelia Campochiaro, the author of Reversible Knitting, Sequence Knitting, and Making Marls, for a project-based class focused on the beautifully simple Riley Shawl—one of my favorite designs. The Riley Shawl features a reversible cable pattern set against a checkerboard background, creating a unique undulating wave effect. In this class, we will cover the use of cables, reversible patterns, and the creation of beautiful tubular edges. As a bonus, all students will receive a copy of the pattern to take home.
level: advanced beginners and beyond. Students must be able to cast on, bind off, knit, purl, increase and decrease without help and should be able to read their knitting. If you can make a 4x4 ribbing swatch without laddering, you will be fine.
supplies:
- their basic knitting kit
- a cable needle
- 1 ball of solid-color yarn and appropriate needles for swatching.
note: To make a Wriley, about 1300 yards of sport weight yarn is needed. The sample is worked holding two strands together to make a sport weight: one strand is ITO Kinu and one strand is ITO Sensai. You will need 3 cones of Kinu and 5 balls of Sensai. The colors of the two yarns should be close or the marl will hide the stitch pattern. The sample is worked with both yarns in color Angora.
homework: none
Full payment is needed to reserve your space. To receive a refund for the class, cancellations must be made at least five days before the class. All refunds are given as store credit only.
