Staff Picks: New Year Knits

After quite the busy holiday season, we're picking up our needles and turning to our ravelry queues to partake in some much needed self-care. I asked the team to send along their must-makes for the new year.

Koryn: One of my favorite things to knit for myself are v-neck sweaters. Such a classic wardrobe staple! The Evermore Sweater by Caidree is at the top of my list. I love the slightly oversized look but it's the finishing details that really drew me in!  A pretty lace pattern runs along the sleeves and around the bottom hem while the collar and cuffs are tidy with i-cords. So pretty!  I plan to knit this beauty in Lang Cashmere Light for the ultimate cozy sweater.

Diane: She plans to take advantage of the last bit of Shibui Pebble and Silk Cloud, a favorite combination of us at the shop, and knit the Halu Sweater by Caitlin Hunter. She has chosen a mix of Juniper and Caper to create a beautiful deep green color.

Teri: And guess what? Teri is knitting the same sweater! Her Halu Sweater will feature Silk Cloud in Caper and Pebble in Pollen. Is anyone surprised by her pick?  She loves Caitlin Hunter's patterns!

Katie: I am going to knit Jessie Maed’s Cozy Classic Raglan using La Bien Aimée Merino DK. I want a simple sweater that showcases the beautiful colors in Aimée’s yarn.

Kate: She got a bit stuck with the Shibui closure as they are out of the yarn she wanted. So now she is deciding between the Rose Cardigan by Andrea Mowry or Hana by Junko. So many sweaters and so little time.

Connie: We all tease Connie because she picks the most complicated patterns of all of us.  She is knitting Risle by Hanna Maciejewska in Cumbria, and come February; we will all be amazed!

Jenn: As with Ann, I too begin with a yearly word, and for 2023 I am going with flourish. I'm hoping to grow in many areas this year, and that includes creative endeavors. I'm choosing the Drawing Sweater by Tomomi Yoshimoto for a fun colorwork project. Isn't it darling on the purlificknitter? Now to pick some yarn...

Ann: To start the new year off, I am knitting Liston by Julie Hoover I want a classic sweater with deep ribbing. Julie released this pattern earlier last year. I am going to knit it in Sea Change Asilomar DK, the yarn that was in the fall curated box. We will start carrying the yarn at the end of January!

What do you have planned for your new year knits?  We hope this provided some inspiration!

Where can I find the pattern for the cable sweater that is pictured next to the cardigan sweater. I have a picture if you need to see which one I’m talking about.
Can’t wait to take your continental knitting class!
