July 24th Newsletter

Dear Friends,

I hope you are all enjoying your summer and are in the full swing of the season. I have had a nice week at home; playing cards, mahjong, and knitting. My CMC sweater will be finished today and will be ready to block tomorrow. Is there anything better than finishing a project?  It is so satisfying.   Our calendar over the next month is so quiet! Mr. Monarch is having ankle surgery next week and will be on a scooter and hooked to an ice machine for at least two weeks. Slowing him down a little means my life gets to slow down too.

We are introducing a new yarn line to the shop this week, and are thrilled to add Lamana yarn to our shelves. To start, we are stocking Como, a sport/DK weight merino that is next on my needle….I am just deciding between four different sweaters: Coomo CardiganFreestyle Sweater, and Aldous.  We are also stocking Premia, a lace-weight combination of 60% mohair and 40% silk. It is so soft and yummy! Roma, the third new yarn, is like knitting with a cloud. It is an airy spin of 80% cashmere and 20% Mulberry Silk. Koryn is happily knitting the sweater we are featuring this week, Ruth. It is a fluffy, beautiful sweater combining the Premia and Roma.

Check back with us next week, as we will start introducing the lineup of fall classes, knit-alongs, and events!

Windschief

Windscheif is an asymmetrical shawl knit top-down, blending simplicity with striking detail. Twisted stitches create subtle diagonal movement on one side, while smooth stockinette keeps the rest light and effortless. Framed with crisp i-cord edges, this shawl is polished and wearable. We’re knitting ours in Peninsula Yarn Glitter Fingering for just the right hint of shimmer. Modern, elegant, and fun to make: a perfect project for relaxing summer evenings!

Colorflux

We’re summer smitten with this shawl! A light and breezy triangular wrap featuring an easy slip-stitch pattern and soft garter stitch border. Worked one color at a time (no juggling multiple strands!), it creates a beautiful gradient effect without the fuss. We’ve paired it with color kits of Quince & Co Sparrow, a soft, drapey linen perfect for warm-weather knits. The result? A stunning, lightweight shawl that’s as fun to knit as it is to wear.

NOLA Handwarmers

We’re featuring this beautifully structured pattern with one of our newest yarns—Lamana Como! Light, lofty, and incredibly soft, it’s the perfect match for these ribbed hand warmers, adding warmth without bulk. These snug arm warmers keep hands toasty and are especially chic when worn slightly scrunched. A timeless accessory made even better with a yarn you’ll fall in love with!

Summer Sun Hat

Get summer-ready with this chic and packable sun hat! Crocheted in Wool and the Gang’s Ra-Ra Raffia, it’s the ideal blend of structure and lightness, perfect for sunny adventures.

Beginner-friendly and a breeze for seasoned makers, this hat is durable, wearable, and effortlessly cool. A must-make for your warm-weather wardrobe!

Ruth

Effortlessly elegant, this pullover perfect blend of comfort and sophistication. Knit with two of Lamana's most luxurious yarns—Premia (superfine merino & silk mohair) and Roma (cashmere & silk)—this sweater is as soft and airy as it looks. Its relaxed fit, subtle transparency, and gentle texture make it ideal for layering through the seasons. Whether paired with jeans for casual days or dressed up for evenings out, Ruth adds an understated chic to any outfit. This is a knit you’ll want to wear again and again.
