Spotlight on: Travel Knitting for H+H Americas
Koryn and I are off to Chicago for the H+H Americas trade show next week, and you had better believe one of the most important things we are packing is our knitting. Yes, this will be a jam-packed work trip, but our knitting will always be at our side. The conference center, the hotels, and the restaurants are filled with industry people who knit and crochet. Anytime you have a break, out comes your project. So what are we bringing? Koryn is going to knit cast on Summer Saga by Britt Marie Bremmer. The last time Britt-Marie was in town for a meeting,...
Spotlight on Yarn: mYak Kupa Baby Yak Organic Cotton
In between bigger projects, I started a little top by Isabel Kraemer called Tresoro. We had just received a shipment of mYak Kupa, and I did not have a project in the shop using the yarn, so this was the perfect marriage of project, yarn, and necessity. I did a gauge swatch (of course) and was pleased with the feel of the yarn and knew it would be perfect for the sweater. I cast on the sweater, a knit for a couple of days, and fell in love. Oh my goodness, do I adore this yarn! Kupa is a combination...
Current Favorite Makes for Summer
Even though warmer days typically roll through our coastal town toward the end of the season, it doesn't mean we can't start dreaming up summery knits now. Plus, for our friends who are already feeling high temps, you can start readying your queues along with us! Read further for our current favorite makes for summer. This fabulous tee was featured in one of our newsletters not long ago, and folks loved it, so, we had to make more kits! We can see why too: Caprock by Bernice of Yamagara Knits is just calling for warmer weather. Designed for Woolfolk's latest collection, this fun pattern, with its well-placed yoke stitching,...
What shall I knit next?
So I want to knit a summer sweater for myself and have been going back on forth on what to knit. I truly like all of these sweater and yarn combinations, so I thought it would be fun to put it up for a vote to see what you all like the best. Option 1: Tresoro by Isabell Kraemer in mYak Kupa. Cotton and yak are combined for this lovely yarn with a beautiful color palette. I have been wanting to get Kupa on my needles and caught a glimpse of this striped version of Tresoro by a test knitter on Instagram. Cute, right?...
HOTN: Friday Slipover
I am someone who loves a vest. In fact, live in a puffy vest. For our climate, they are the perfect outerwear when paired with a sweater. Keep my core warm; the rest of me is happy. We featured the Friday Slipover as a project of the week back in February, and I thought that I would knit one for myself. It has a few features that I like, a crew neck, simple shaping at the armhole, and a textured all-over pattern that is easy to knit; a broken rib. When deciding on the yarn for the project, I followed Koryn’s...
