Dear Friends,
Mr. Monarch and I are off to a toasty Palm Springs this weekend for a wedding. I have not been there in ages! We will be busy with wedding events on Friday and Saturday evenings, but do you all have any recommendations for a fun lunch spot on Saturday? Anything we should see or do? Please let me know!
I will not be taking my Armor Scarf with me. A client needed a skein of my yarn for a project, and since I hadn't started the second ball, it went back to the shop and into her bag. Since the color is dark and the yarn is hand-dyed, the color may vary slightly the next time we restock. I am going to rip back to make a size between the one and two-skein versions. I am always happy to help out a client when I can.
Can you believe it is almost November? I am so excited about the event with Ikigai and the classes they have put together. The trunk show will be filled with holiday gift inspiration, and Amy Opie has designed the cutest hat for the shop. If you sign up for our Color Workshop and Bubbles Event on Friday evening, you will get a free copy! Check out the events and class here!
Hands down, the best-selling books in the shop are by Nancy Bates. Her Knitting the National Parks and Knitting California fly off the shelves. We are so excited to have her new book, Knitting in the U.S.A., included in our collection. The book features 50 hat patterns inspired by the landscapes and landmarks of our land. This book has a hat pattern for everyone!
Knit, and be happy,
Ann
P.S. Next week, we will release a few more Advent Calendars for sale. These sold out quickly, so if you are interested in one, keep an eye out.

🧶 Crochet Borders for Knitters
It’s a weekend full of color, creativity, and community - you won’t want to miss it!
Named for the Maine saying “I’m right out straight,” the ROS Shawl by Alicia Plummer is designed as a peaceful pause amid life’s busyness. This petite, textural kerchief is perfect for those moments when you just need to knit and breathe. Such a beautiful reminder! We’ve paired it with North Bay Fibers Elemental Fingering, a soft, natural wool that makes this one-skein project a delight to make and to wear.
We couldn’t resist casting on this beautiful colorwork hat in our newest yarn, Camper by Kelbourne Woolens! This hat by designer Kate Gagnon Osborn combines timeless stranded colorwork with simple shaping and a cozy ribbed brim. Finished with a playful pom pom, it’s a knit that’s equal parts tradition and modern charm. A perfect first project to try out Camper’s soft hand and lovely stitch definition.
Dive into colorwork fun with the Fischers Fritz kids sweater! Featuring two adorable fish motifs to choose from - swimming up, down, or both - this seamless top-down design makes adjusting lengths a breeze. We’ve kitted it up in mYak Fior di Lino, whose soft drape and gentle texture make it perfect for little ones. A joyful knit that grows right along with them!
Socks or art? Why not both! Inspired by painter Milton Avery’s March in Red, this fun pattern combines bold colorwork with beautiful design. Our kits include three colors of Kelbourne Woolens Perennial making it easy to cast on your own little masterpiece!

Cozy up with a classic this season! The Smokeshow Vest features an allover cable pattern, twisted rib button bands, and a timeless silhouette that pairs beautifully with anything in your wardrobe. We’re knitting ours in mYak Baby Yak Medium, whose soft hand and rich color make this piece quietly stunning - and a joy to knit.
